Every word written by a real guest.
Each review on this page comes from a completed stay at GrandBlue Vista in Marsalforn and was published first on Booking.com or Airbnb, where only guests who actually slept in the apartment can leave feedback. We reproduce them here in full and in the order they were written — Booking.com first, then Airbnb — without editing wording, trimming criticism or translating away the character of the original. Names appear exactly as the platforms display them, along with the month of the stay and the guest's home country, so you can weigh a summer family holiday against a quiet week in November.
The themes repeat, and they are the ones we work hardest on: the terrace and its sunset over the salt pans, how quiet the fifth floor is once the bay settles for the night, the cleanliness of the linen and bathrooms, the lift that makes luggage and prams painless, and how quickly we answer on WhatsApp when a ferry runs late or a guest wants a restaurant booked. Where guests have asked for something we did not yet offer — extra beach towels, a fan for the twin room, clearer parking notes — we changed it, and later reviews show it.
We do not solicit ratings, offer discounts in exchange for stars, or remove reviews we would rather not read. If you are deciding between Marsalforn and elsewhere on Gozo, we would rather you read the honest version and arrive with accurate expectations. Guests who book directly with us receive the same apartment, the same hosts and the same welcome described below — simply without the platform fee.
What guests tell us most often.
The view. Almost every review mentions the terrace. The apartment sits on the fifth floor facing west across Marsalforn Bay, so the sunset arrives without anyone having to drive to a cliff for it. Guests describe breakfast with the fishing boats going out and a last glass of wine after the bay has gone quiet, and several have said the terrace was the reason they rebooked.
Cleanliness and comfort. Beds, linen and bathrooms come up constantly, and that is deliberate: we clean the apartment ourselves between stays rather than handing it to an agency rota. Air conditioning in both bedrooms, two bathrooms, blackout in the double room and a genuinely equipped kitchen are the details that turn a good week into an easy one, particularly in August.
The location. Families note the lift and the level walk to the promenade; couples note how quickly you can be on the coastal path to the Xwejni salt pans. The bakery, supermarket, pharmacy and bus stop for Victoria are all within a few minutes, which means a stay here works with or without a hire car.
The hosting. The most common praise is the simplest — someone answered. Late ferries, a restaurant table on a busy Friday, a boat trip to Comino, a doctor's number on a Sunday: we reply on WhatsApp the same day throughout your stay, in English, Italian or Russian, and we would rather be asked than have a guest solve it alone.
How to read these reviews.
Ratings are useful only with context, so we have kept the month and the country of each stay beside the words. A ten out of ten in February from a couple who wanted quiet is a different endorsement to a nine in August from a family of four with two teenagers, and both tell you something worth knowing before you book. Where a guest has mentioned a specific detail — the lift, the second bathroom, the blackout curtains, the walk to the bakery — it is because that detail changed their week, not because we asked them to mention it.
You will also notice what the reviews do not claim. The apartment is not a hotel: there is no reception desk, no daily housekeeping and no room service. What there is instead is a whole home with a west-facing terrace, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen you can actually cook in, looked after by the two people who own it. Guests who value that trade consistently rate the stay at the top of the scale; guests looking for resort facilities are better served elsewhere on the island, and we would rather say so here than disappoint someone in August.
If a review raises a question about your own dates — whether the twin room is cool enough in high summer, how the bay sounds during festa week, whether four adults will find the kitchen generous enough — ask us before you reserve. We answer honestly, and we would rather lose a booking than gain a review that begins with the word "unfortunately".
